What are wax melts and how to use them?

What are wax melts?

Wax melts are scented pieces of wax made from a special mixture of wax, fragrance oils, or essential oils, and sometimes colored dye, glitter, or botanicals for a more attractive appearance, available in many shapes and sizes.

We have chosen a round form for our melts, as a pill, as I like to call them since it uplifts your mood.

How to use wax melts

  • Put your chosen wax melt in your burner.

Use only wax warmers approved for wax melts and ensure the wax warmer is on a stable, flat surface. After you have made sure of these, simply pop the wax melt into the dish of your wax burner.

  • Turn on your wax burner

If you're using a tea light warmer, simply light your tea light (recommended the 4-hour tea light) and pop it into the designated hole below the dish.

If you're using an electric warmer, there should be a switch or button to turn it on.
Once you've got your wax burner on the go, the wax will slowly melt to release an uplifting aroma. Do not add water. Always ensure that you do not overfill your bowl.

However, your tea light should put itself out after 4 hours, so you may need to replace it. Electric warmers come with built-in timers.
Do not burn your wax warmer for over 4 hours at a time.

If you decide to only burn your wax melt for an hour or so, you can simply let the wax harden and re-burn at a later time. Each uplift your mood wax melt weighs about 10g and can provide approx.10-12 hours of scent. Replace wax melt when the scent has faded.

Keep away from children and pets. Keep away from things that can catch fire.

  • Remove the wax and clean your burner

Most importantly, make sure your burner is cool to the touch.
There are a few methods you can use to empty your burner, we recommend 2 easy methods.

The cotton balls method – my favorite
Just turn on the burner and burn the wax for a few minutes until it's in a liquid form, then soak it up using cotton balls and discard.

Warm and push
Turn on the burner for a moment until the wax has loosened slightly, scoop it out, and pop it in the bin
Once you've removed your wax, wipe the burner dish down with either a paper towel or a damp cloth.

There are a lot more methods you can use to empty your burner, like the fridge or freezer method, when the wax has partially solidified, pop it in the freezer or fridge for a short time, this will rapidly cool the wax causing it to shrink, it will then pop out of the dish easily, or scrape the wax when it's solid out with a spoon or blunt knife. This is probably the least recommended as it can be dangerous and messy.

  • How should you store the wax melts

Wax melts should be stored in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight or heat. We recommend not storing them in the kitchen near an oven or stovetop to avoid the possibility of them melting.

To summarize, wax melts are a delightful and modern way to fill your home with uplifting aromas, are generally safer, and are a convenient way to try new scents. A great, wick-less alternative to our scented candles, and also more cost-efficient.
